The stormproof profile uses a rebated sash that overlaps the outer frame, giving a different closed appearance from a flush casement. This version combines that profile with friction hinges and shootbolt locking.

It can be considered where the building already has an overlapping casement detail or where that more pronounced frame line is preferred. Opening sizes, pane divisions and finish are developed around the elevation.

Your choices

Plan the frame, finish and glass.

Overlapping frame detail

Use the existing window as a reference for the projecting sash and pane divisions. Allow for the outward opening and surrounding reveals.

Finish and glass

Discuss painted or stained Redwood or hardwood, including Meranti, alongside the glass needed for warmth, noise or privacy. The sash size and friction-hinge arrangement are considered together.

Hardware at your survey

Handles, locks, hinges and furniture are selected with you at survey, balancing style, security, ease of use and budget.

Your project

Review the overlapping frame.

Share a close view of the existing sash and outer frame, plus approximate opening sizes. Mark which panes need to open so we can consider the stormproof profile across the elevation.
